Should I join the Union?

The union in Australia is called The Media, Entertainment & Arts Alliance (MEAA). They represent the community of the people who inform and entertain Australia. Through the Alliance, members negotiate their wages and conditions and fight for the professional and policy issues that matter to us. You can visit their website for more info on http://www.alliance.org.au. They also have a free newsletter that you can sign up for for. Membership is not cheap and probably not needed if all you have done is a day or two of extra work. However if you are employed on a full feature movie, it is recommended that you join.
